Metabolic Kilobytes

Metabolic Kilobytes (2022) is Raphaela Vogel’s second work in the collection. The work is a perfect embodiment of Vogel’s hybrid artistic practice in which she exploits the properties and contrasts of very different media and materials. A structure of six metal tubes carries a spherical loudspeaker which produces an indefinable rumbling sound, a cross between a growling stomach and the growl of an animal. A pack of tiger-like creatures creeps up along the tubes, if the white forms of elastic synthetic material could at least be defined as such. Metabolic Kilobytes is part of the large retrospective of Vogel’s work that De Pont will present in early 2023.
