Collection
The collection of De Pont Museum forms the heart of the institution, with more than one thousand works by international artists. We follow artists over an extended period and collect their work in depth, enabling us to show how it develops and transforms over time. Around twice a year, the collection display is rehung. Established names appear alongside new acquisitions, creating unexpected connections and fresh perspectives.

De Pont Museum opened its doors for the first time on September 12, 1992. Our museum became one of the many Dutch museums to have originated on the basis of a private initiative - something which rarely had occurred in the Netherlands after World War II. There were a few striking differences, though, with respect to most of these predecessors.
